Travelling is the best thing people will love to do while living on earth. It gives time to people to think, relax and be free from problems for a meantime. We can also learn new things from the places we visit like its culture and tradition, history and on how we differ from the people who are inhabitants of those places.
Isla Del Fuego (Island of Fire in English), is now popularly known as Siquijor which beholds a splendiferous tourists attractions that can beguile local or international tourists. We may be Siquijodnons but we still don’t fully know what the beauty of Siquijor is. It is proven because there are lots of tourists we see who visit the island almost every day that are seen around.
We chose to travel in the town of Siquijor because it is nearer to the place we live in, it is more convenient and we could only use a little amount of money.

First, we dropped by at St. Francis of the Assisi Parish Church (see the picture above) that is located near the port and tourists can easily see it. We took photos of it outside and inside and on the engraved history of the church on its wall

The church was founded by the “Paring Sekular” and the chosen patron was San Francisco De Asis on February 1,1783. The “Paring Sekular” ceded the church to the “Paring Rekoleto” on 1793. P. Setten, a “sekular”, started the building of the stone church and was managed by P. Alonso De Los Dolores on 1795-1831. And the convent inside the school of Assisi High School was made as a barrack to fight against the assault of the pirates.

Our second destination was the Siquijor Triangular Landmark in front of the church and the one who will greet the tourists if they’ll arrive from the port. It’s very stunning because of its wonderful design and the green grass, flowers and the flags being embellished.

We went to the place where the figure of Mama Mary and the bell tower were located. Sad to say, some parts of the bell tower was ruined unlike in the past years that it was still standing beautifully.

Lastly, we walked towards the boulevard and we planned to bought some streetfoods but there were no vendors selling there and we took lots of photos for personal uses. We posed on the phrase, “ I LOVE SIQUIJOR”, the mural and the statue of a woman that we didn’t know.
